Multicultural Issues Committee
Guiding the library since 1990 in its
commitment to promote issues of diversity
Charge for the Multicultural Issues Committee
The Multicultural Issues Committee (MIC) is an all-volunteer committee of the University Library dedicated to celebrating and promoting the diversity of the Library and the University community. The staff of the University Library comprises employees who come from different backgrounds, cultures, races and ethnic groups, and who serve a highly diverse customer population that includes faculty, students, and staff from all over the world. Likewise, the Library collects materials that reflect the broad diversity of our staff and patrons.
Through partnerships with other University committees, groups, or organizations, the Multicultural Issues Committee develops programs and activities that recognize, celebrate, and foster awareness of diversity, inclusiveness, and multiculturalism. The Multicultural Issues Committee promotes the use and understanding of specialized Library collections in support of those programs and activities. The Multicultural Issues Committee also serves to promote awareness of diversity within the Libray organization by meeting with all applicants for Library faculty positions.
