Instructional Scanning Services - Toolkit

Overview

Instructional Scanning Services provides assistance to faculty by scanning and uploading materials to the Instructor's Toolkit webpage as additional readings. ISS provides links to materials in electronic format to the Instructor's Toolkit, and scans materials for other instructional uses.

Request Process

Interlibrary Services is proud to offer online web requesting services. Please visit our logon page to set up an account.

After setting up your account, you will be able to request and track the process of all your Toolkit materials.

To request materials to be scanned and uploaded to your Toolkit account, visit our new Web Request system and select 'Toolkit' in the left side menu. Please fill in all required information and select 'Submit Request'. An email will be sent to you when you request has been uploaded to your toolkit account.

If you have the materials in hand, please deliver them to Instructional Scanning Services in Alderman Room 107. Another delivery option is to send to ISS from your home library.

Criteria for Toolkit Requests

Materials are for instructional use.
Material conversion is time-sensitive, i.e., the materials need to be delivered for instruction within a specific timeframe.
Material is not over 100 pages or 50 images.
Material meets the Fair Use Guidelines under the U.S. copyright law (Title 17, United States Code), or copyright permission has been obtained by the instructor.

ISS will:

Find the document you need for your Instructor's Toolkit, scan it into a .PDF format, and deliver it to your Toolkit site by the date you request. If there is no specific deadline, we will deliver the scanned material within 5 working days. Please make all requests using the Toolkit request on the Interlibrary Services Web Request System.
Create direct links from the electronic journal or book to your Instructor's Toolkit if the material is already available in electronic format.
Scan and deliver color plates and other images from books, articles, photographs, slides, and other visual formats, in an appropriate file format such as .TIF and .JPG.
Deliver scanned instructional materials directly to the Instructor's Toolkit, or to the instructor via a variety of media.
