  • Guidelines for the selection of items for digitization by subject selectors:
    • Subject criteria as would be used for all proposed library acquisitions.

      • If this is new digitization:

        • Will existing Content Models and disseminators be used, or will new ones be required?
        • Are the delivery requirements supported by the current repository implementation, or will the delivery infrastructure require updating to deliver the content?
      • If this is legacy migration:
        • Are the materials currently available online?
        • How stable is the current delivery mechanism, and is it well-supported?
        • Will existing Content Models and disseminators be used, or will new ones be required?
        • Are the delivery requirements supported by the current repository implementation, or will the delivery infrastructure require updating to deliver the content?
    • Metadata.
      • Availability.
      • Quality.
        • Does it meet the minimum metadata standards?
        • Is the metadata consistent?
      • Cost.
        • What is the cost to purchase metadata?
        • What is the cost in staff resources to create/normalize/enrich metadata locally?
    • Rights.
      • License terms.
      • Copyright.
      • Access Restrictions.
      • Use Rights.
    • Technical Quality.
      • Quality of the media files.
    • Readiness for production.
      • Will existing production workflows be used, or will new workflows be required?
