Images from the Fiske Kimball Fine Arts Library Image Collection and the McIntire Department of Art Visual Resource Collection used in teaching and research. This is a restricted collection: use of large and high-resolution images is restricted to the UVA Community. Collection specializations include:

- Alex MacLean Aerial Photographs
- Over 300 aerial photographs taken by Alex MacLean documenting and deciphering the clues that are hidden in city grids, suburban developments, and in agricultural tracts. This is a licensed collection: use of large and high-resolution images is restricted to the UVA Community.
- Architecture of Jefferson Country
- 3,325 images of Central Virginia from an architectural inventory compiled by University of Virginia Professor Emeritus K. Edward Lay.
- Archivision Digital Research Photo Library
- On-site photography documenting architecture, gardens, parks, and landscape architecture worldwide, from Ancient to Modern. This is a licensed collection: use of large and high-resolution images is restricted to the UVA Community.
- Flora Materials for the Study of Landscape Architecture
- Over 1,300 images that provide documentation of trees, shrubs, and flowers used for identification and reference in the study of landscape architecture. This is a licensed collection: use of large and high-resolution images is restricted to the UVA Community.
- Fowler Museum of Cultural History, UCLA
- 1,345 images of African art, Pre-Columbian ceramics, and Indonesian textiles.
- Frances Benjamin Johnston Photograph Collection
- Frances Benjamin Johnston (1864-1952) was one of the first American women to achieve distinction as a photographer. UVA has over 900 photographs taken by Johnston of Virginia architecture from 1929-1935. Her photographs are breathtaking examples of the American built environment that has been largely erased from today's architectural landscape.
- Jackson Davis Collection of African-American Educational Photographs
- Jackson Davis, an educational reformer and amateur photographer, took over 5,500 photographs of African American schools, teachers and students throughout the Southeastern United States. His photographs, housed at UVA's Small Special Collections Library, provide a unique view of southern education during the first half of the twentieth century.
- Smithsonian American Art Museum Catlin Indian Paintings Collection
- 439 portraits of Native Americans and cultural documentation landscapes by American artist George Catlin (1796-1872) from his travels with William Clark and on his own through the western frontier in the early 1830s.
